Overlooking the Fairy Glen and Uig Bay, Gleann Síth House is the perfect place from which to explore authentic Skye and the Outer Hebrides — remote enough to feel like your own hideaway, close enough to explore all the major (and minor) attractions
Guests
Up to 6 comfortably or 8 with the sofa bed
Stay length
7 nights in peak season · usually 3 nights the rest of the year
Setting
Trotternish, North Skye — ten minutes from the Fairy Glen
The setting
The north of the Isle of Skye is Skye at its most dramatic
A wild landscape of towering mountains, ancient cliffs, sweeping sea views and remote glens that feel almost otherworldly. This is the untouched Skye — away from the queues of Portree and Broadford, a stone's throw from the Fairy Glen, close enough to everything, crowded by nothing.
From here, the Outer Hebrides feel like a suggestion rather than a journey. Many guests treat this house as the beginning of a longer stay across the islands.
A croft house that effortlessly blends heritage with modern living
Three bedrooms (sleeping six), each with epic views over the Fairy Glen, a wood burner for cosy nights in, stunning views from the conservatory and terrace over Uig Bay and Waternish and a giant firepit for those evenings when the sun almost doesn't set.
Kitchen & Dining
A large kitchen with all modern conveniences and an island to enjoy that fresh cup of coffee or bowl of cereal, complemented by a table for 8 (10 if you all squeeze together!) in the conservatory to host the whole family. Just make sure you don't get too distracted by the Fairy Glen and sea views!
Bedrooms
Three bedrooms sleeping up to six, each with its own character — quiet, uncluttered, and all benefiting from stunning views of the glen. For larger groups there is also a high-quality sofa bed in the living room.
Outside
A private garden with a huge fire pit and terrace that face the Fairy Glen and sea directly — the kind of outdoor space you'll use even in Skye's changeable weather. Depending on the time of year you visit the fields around you will be full of lambs and calves.
Some days you'll go far. Most days you won't need to.
Walk straight from the door along the Glen and onto the Trotternish ridge, or drive fifteen minutes to the Quiraing. Spend an evening doing absolutely nothing but watching the light change over the water. Stroll down to the Ferry Inn for a drink (book well in advance for dinner) but be prepared for the hike back home!
We keep a running list of the walks, beaches, and small places we'd actually send a friend to — not a tourist checklist.
"Stunning location away from all the tourists, but close to some of the best sites including the Quarraing and The Ferry Glen. We used it as a base to explore the island for a week. Our host were amazing and very responsive. Would definitely recommend"

"We were travelling as three couples and had loads of space in the house. Great views, especially from the bedrooms upstairs and the copper bath tub is something from the movies. The fire burner was so cozy and it was helpful to have a huge utility and boot room for drying our clothes and doing washing after a few muddy hikes"
