Booking Terms & Conditions

These are the standard terms that apply once you book a stay at Gleann Síth House directly with us. They apply to every booking unless we've expressly agreed different terms with you in writing at the time of booking — where that happens, the terms we've agreed with you in writing take precedence over what's written here.

Making a booking

A booking is confirmed once we've agreed your dates with you and received your deposit. We'll send you written confirmation by email.

Payment & deposit

A deposit of 50% of the total cost is payable at the time of booking, with the remaining balance due 4 weeks before your arrival date. For bookings made within 4 weeks of arrival, full payment is due at the time of booking.

Cancellations & refunds

If you need to cancel, how much is refunded depends on how far ahead of your arrival date you let us know:

• 6 months or more before arrival: fully refundable.
• 1 month up to 6 months before arrival: 50% refundable. At this stage you'll normally have paid only your deposit, so in practice this means half your deposit is refunded and half is retained as a cancellation fee.
• 2 weeks up to 1 month before arrival: 25% refundable. Your balance is normally due by this point, so this is worked out on the full cost of your stay — up to 75% may be retained as a cancellation fee, and any balance not yet paid remains payable.
• Less than 2 weeks before arrival: non-refundable. The full cost of your stay is retained, including any balance not yet paid.

We'd always recommend taking out your own travel insurance to cover cancellations outside our control.

Check-in & check-out

Check-in is from 4pm and check-out is by 10am, to give us time to prepare the house properly between guests. The minimum stay is 3 nights, rising to 7 nights (Saturday to Saturday) during peak season — we'll confirm whether this applies to your dates when you enquire.

Number of guests

Gleann Síth House sleeps a maximum of six guests - eight with use of the sofa bed. The number of people staying overnight must not exceed this without our prior agreement.

Pets

We welcome one well-behaved dog by arrangement — just let us know when you enquire. Please keep dogs off the furniture and clean up after them in the garden.

Smoking & events

Smoking and vaping are not permitted inside the house. Parties or events are not permitted, to be respectful of neighbours and to keep the house in good condition for the next guests.

Damage & breakages

We take a refundable damage deposit of £300 at the time of booking, alongside your payment. Provided nothing's damaged and the house is left in good order, we return this within 7 days of your departure. If something is broken or damaged during your stay, please let us know — we'd always rather hear it from you than find it afterwards.

Your responsibilities as a guest

Please treat the house, its contents and the surrounding property with care, and let us know as soon as possible about anything that breaks or goes wrong during your stay. You're responsible for your own belongings and for the conduct of everyone in your party.

Ending a stay early

In serious cases — for example illegal activity, a party or event in breach of the no-events rule above, or guest numbers well over our maximum of eight — we reserve the right to end your stay immediately and ask you to leave, without a refund for any remaining nights. We'd always try to sort a problem out with you directly first, but where that's not possible, or the breach is serious enough, this protects the house, our neighbours, and the guests who follow you.

If something's outside our control

We're not responsible for any cancellation or disruption to your stay caused by events outside our reasonable control — for example severe weather, ferry cancellations, or power/water outages affecting the property.

Complaints

If anything about your stay isn't right, please tell us as soon as possible — ideally while you're still with us — so we have a fair chance to put it right. You can reach us at info@gleannsithhouse.com or +44 7356 030332.

Governing law

These booking terms are governed by the law of Scotland, and any dispute will be dealt with by the Scottish courts.

Short-term let licence

Gleann Síth House is licensed by The Highland Council under the Short-Term Lets licensing scheme. Licence reference: HI-31651-F.

Privacy Policy

Who we are

Gleann Síth House is a self-catering holiday let at 8 Glenconon, Uig, Isle of Skye, IV51 9YA. For the purposes of UK data protection law, we are the "data controller" of the personal information described below. You can contact us about anything in this policy at info@gleannsithhouse.com.

What information we collect

We collect the information you give us directly — for example your name, email address, and the content of any message — when you use the enquiry form on this website, email us, or call us. If you go on to book a stay, we'll also hold the booking details you provide (dates, party size, and similar) and correspondence about your stay.

How we use it

We use your information to respond to enquiries, arrange and manage bookings, and communicate with you before, during and after a stay. We don't use your information for marketing unless you've separately agreed to that, and we don't sell or rent it to anyone.

The legal basis for using it

We rely on legitimate interests (responding to your enquiry and running our booking process) and, where you go on to book, on taking the steps necessary to enter into and perform that booking contract with you.

Who we share it with

The enquiry form on this site is processed by Formspree, a third-party form service, which receives and forwards submissions to us. The map on our Contact page is provided by Google Maps, and this site's typefaces are served by Google Fonts — both of these load resources directly from Google, which may process your IP address as part of that. We don't otherwise share your information with third parties, except where we're required to by law.

Cookies

This website does not itself set cookies or use analytics or advertising trackers. The embedded Google Map on our Contact page may set its own cookies when it loads, under Google's own privacy policy, which is outside our control.

How long we keep it

We keep enquiry and booking correspondence for as long as reasonably necessary to deal with your enquiry or stay, and afterwards only as long as needed for our business records and legal obligations (for example, tax records).

Your rights

Under UK GDPR, you have the right to ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, to ask us to correct or delete it, to restrict or object to certain uses of it, and to ask for it in a portable format. To exercise any of these, email info@gleannsithhouse.com. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, you can also complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time; the date at the top of this page shows when it was last revised.

We try to keep the information on this site accurate and up to date, but details such as availability, pricing and specific features may change — anything shown here is indicative rather than a guaranteed offer, and we'll always confirm the specifics with you directly before you book.

Third-party links & content

This site links to and embeds some third-party services (for example Google Maps). We aren't responsible for the content, accuracy or availability of those external services.

Liability

We've put this site together in good faith, but to the extent permitted by law we don't accept liability for any loss arising from your use of it, beyond what applies under the booking terms above once you've made a booking with us.
