Privacy & terms
The legal detail behind Gleann Síth House — what we do with your information, the terms of using this website, and the terms that apply when you book to stay with us. Last updated September 2026.
Gleann Síth House is a self-catering holiday let at 8 Glenconon, Uig, Isle of Skye, IV51 9YA. For the purposes of UK data protection law, we are the "data controller" of the personal information described below. You can contact us about anything in this policy at info@gleannsithhouse.com.
We collect the information you give us directly — for example your name, email address, and the content of any message — when you use the enquiry form on this website, email us, or call us. If you go on to book a stay, we'll also hold the booking details you provide (dates, party size, and similar) and correspondence about your stay.
We use your information to respond to enquiries, arrange and manage bookings, and communicate with you before, during and after a stay. We don't use your information for marketing unless you've separately agreed to that, and we don't sell or rent it to anyone.
We rely on legitimate interests (responding to your enquiry and running our booking process) and, where you go on to book, on taking the steps necessary to enter into and perform that booking contract with you.
The enquiry form on this site is processed by Formspree, a third-party form service, which receives and forwards submissions to us. The map on our Contact page is provided by Google Maps, and this site's typefaces are served by Google Fonts — both of these load resources directly from Google, which may process your IP address as part of that. We don't otherwise share your information with third parties, except where we're required to by law.
This website does not itself set cookies or use analytics or advertising trackers. The embedded Google Map on our Contact page may set its own cookies when it loads, under Google's own privacy policy, which is outside our control.
We keep enquiry and booking correspondence for as long as reasonably necessary to deal with your enquiry or stay, and afterwards only as long as needed for our business records and legal obligations (for example, tax records).
Under UK GDPR, you have the right to ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, to ask us to correct or delete it, to restrict or object to certain uses of it, and to ask for it in a portable format. To exercise any of these, email info@gleannsithhouse.com. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, you can also complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
We may update this policy from time to time; the date at the top of this page shows when it was last revised.
This website is provided so you can find out about Gleann Síth House and get in touch to check availability or make a booking. By using it, you agree to use it only for that kind of lawful purpose.
All text, photographs and other content on this site belong to Gleann Síth House unless stated otherwise, and shouldn't be reused without our permission. We try to keep the information on this site accurate and up to date, but details such as availability, pricing and specific features may change — anything shown here is indicative rather than a guaranteed offer, and we'll always confirm the specifics with you directly before you book.
This site links to and embeds some third-party services (for example Google Maps). We aren't responsible for the content, accuracy or availability of those external services.
We've put this site together in good faith, but to the extent permitted by law we don't accept liability for any loss arising from your use of it, beyond what applies under the booking terms below once you've made a booking with us.
These website terms are governed by the law of Scotland.
These are the terms that apply once you book a stay at Gleann Síth House directly with us. A few of the specifics below are still being finalised — they're marked clearly, and we'll confirm them in writing before you pay a deposit.
A booking is confirmed once we've agreed your dates with you and received your deposit (or full payment, where applicable). We'll send you written confirmation by email.
Owner to confirm: deposit amount/percentage due at booking, and when the balance is due before arrival.
Owner to confirm: your cancellation policy and refund windows. This should match whatever is shown in the FAQ and on any booking platform you use, so the two don't contradict each other.
Owner to confirm: check-in and check-out times, and any minimum-stay requirement.
Gleann Síth House sleeps a maximum of six guests. The number of people staying overnight must not exceed this without our prior agreement.
Owner to confirm policy — this should match the answer given in the FAQ.
Smoking and vaping are not permitted inside the house. Parties or events are not permitted, to be respectful of neighbours and to keep the house in good condition for the next guests.
Owner to confirm: whether you take a damage deposit (and how much), or handle breakages another way.
Please treat the house, its contents and the surrounding property with care, and let us know as soon as possible about anything that breaks or goes wrong during your stay. You're responsible for your own belongings and for the conduct of everyone in your party.
Neither of us is responsible for a cancellation or disruption caused by events outside our reasonable control — for example severe weather, ferry cancellations, or power/water outages affecting the property.
If anything about your stay isn't right, please tell us as soon as possible — ideally while you're still with us — so we have a fair chance to put it right. You can reach us at info@gleannsithhouse.com or +44 7795 640462.
These booking terms are governed by the law of Scotland, and any dispute will be dealt with by the Scottish courts.
