Good to know
Everything you'd ask before booking.
Check-in times, pets, parking, cancellation policy — the practical answers, all in one place. Anything else, just get in touch.

What time is check-in and check-out?
Check-in is from 4pm, check-out by 10am. If you're arriving on an early ferry or a late flight, tell us — we're usually able to flex this a little.
Is there parking?
Yes — private off-road parking for at least two cars, right at the house.
Is there WiFi?
Yes, throughout the house. Skye's mobile signal can be patchy depending on your network, so the WiFi is there as a reliable backup for work or calls.
Do you allow dogs or other pets?
Yes, one well-behaved dog is allowed, but only by special arrangement. Please confirm with us when you enquire.
Is the house suitable for children?
Yes, the house is well suited to children. The garden is fully fenced, which helps — but a few things are worth knowing before you book: there's a staircase to the upstairs bedrooms, so young children should be supervised on it, and the same goes for the fire pit outside, which shouldn't be used unsupervised by kids.
What's the minimum stay?
Seven nights during peak season, usually three nights the rest of the year. If you're just outside those windows, ask — short gaps in the calendar are sometimes available.
What's your cancellation policy?
Free cancellation up to 6 months before arrival. After that: 50% refundable up to 1 month before, 25% refundable up to 2 weeks before, and non-refundable within 2 weeks of arrival. See our booking terms for exactly how each percentage is calculated.
How do we get there?
Most guests fly into Inverness (roughly 2.5 hours' drive) or take the train to Kyle of Lochalsh. If you're arriving from the Outer Hebrides, the Uig ferry lands about ten minutes from the house. There is also a bus service from Glasgow Airport via Portree to Uig, but we would recommend you have access to a car as the ascent to the house is up a steep and winding road.
What should we pack?
Layers, and something waterproof — Skye's weather can turn several times in a single afternoon, which is part of its character. The house has a fire and good heating for when it does.
